Filmed in Greenwich Village in 1982, "Ziggy on the Run" is a short documentary about Bobby Andriani. Ziggy, as he was called by his close friends, suffered from schizophrenia beginning in his late teens. However, the significance of this documentary is not related to Bobby's' mental illness or homelessness. It was intended to introduce the audience to the magical aura that turned the heads of anyone who actually heard him sing. Bobby Andriani possessed the perfect pitch and lack of strain present in all of the greatest singers of our time. Unfortunately the recordings in this documentary were not only sonically degraded; they offered this singer absolutely no challenge at all. Still, presenting a tarnished portrait of what he was became an obsession of mine. Imagine promoting a Ferrari by running it at 100 mph. Ziggy was both my mentor and my friend. In a world where it seems like everyone can sing, I’m proud to present him running at half speed! Dennis Genovese
